2018 Men's Retreat

March 23 - 25  |  Malibu Join us for our 2018 Men’s Retreat! This year we will once again go to Serra Retreat Center, a beautiful sacred space nestled in the hills of Malibu. This Catholic retreat center, home to Franciscan friars, is a perfect place for reflection with stunning ocean views and, not to mention, great surf less than a mile away.

We are privileged to have Rev. Dr. Dennis Okholm, as our guest speaker for the weekend. Dr. Okholm will be speaking on the topic of Vices & Virtues. We all have a tendency to love the wrong things and move away from the heart of God. Our time together over the weekend will be a guided retreat of prayer, teaching, community, and solitude to help us practically unlearn some of our sinful vices and replace them with godly virtues.

About the Speaker

Dr. Okholm is a Professor of Theology at Azusa Pacific University, an Anglican Pastor, a Benedictine Oblate, and has a passion to help Christians apply ancient biblical wisdom to our ordinary everyday lives.

Christmas Eve Service

Sunday, December 24, 5:00 pm, Chapel at Temple Bat Yahm Join us for our annual Lessons and Carols Christmas Eve service. We will sing the great Christmas songs interspersed with readings from Scripture, and a short Christmas message.

Edward White Benson, Archbishop of Canterbury, first created the Nine Lessons and Carols service in 1880. The service, which has its focal point the coming of Christ, is characterized by a very simple pattern. It is ordered around Scripture readings that pertain to Christ’s coming, followed by songs and prayers. Since its first use, the service has spread around the world and has been adapted in many countries, languages, and cultures. The best know version is broadcast from King’s College, Cambridge each Christmas Eve where they have been celebrating this service since 1918.

Nothing will focus your heart and mind, and get your family into the Christmas spirit like this stirring Christmas Eve service.

Nursery childcare will be available for children under 3 years.

If this is your first visit to Redeemer, then click HERE for directions and more information about worship at Redeemer.

Discovering the 12-Days of Christmas

Sunday, December 17, Middle Hour (10:10-10:50 am) Christmas isn’t just one day! It’s actually a 12-day celebration beginning at sunset on Christmas Eve! How could it not be a multi-day, extravagant and joyous feast when the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace, Creator and Redeemer has come to make the world and us new and is coming again? "The 12-Days of Christmas" is more than a list of nonsensical, silly and impractical gifts: it’s a tool to teach children (and adults!) the basics of historic Christianity. All are invited to gather in the chapel to hear from Pastor Adam Feichtmannn about the history of “The 12 Days of Christmas” and how we can continue the celebration of Jesus’ coming after the 25th. Our children are invited to join us for the beginning then will be dismissed for an age-appropriate activity. Nursery childcare will also be available.

Children's Christmas Party

Sunday, December 10, Middle Hour (10:10-10:50 am) Our annual Children’s Christmas Party will take place on December 10th during Middle Hour. Children ages 2 years-old to 5th grade are invited to celebrate with Christmas carols, stories, cookies and crafts to prepare their hearts for the Christmas season. The celebration will begin in the chapel following the first worship service, around 10am, and our trusted volunteers will lead our children from there to their various activities. Contact Amanda Knox, amandak@redeemeroc.org, if you are interested in volunteering to help.

Join us in the chapel hall during middle hour (10:10-10:50am) on December 3rd as we assemble our wreaths and enjoy fellowship with one another. There are two types of wreaths available, and we are requesting a $10 donation per wreath.

Due to the overwhelming response, we are at capacity for the succulent wreath option. If you would like to participate in this event but have not submitted your RSVP, please still plan to join us! We should have ample supplies for you to make one of the wooden bead wreaths. If you have questions or need to update your RSVP, then please contact Heather Juelfs, juelfsfam@gmail.com.
