LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES SPOTLIGHT - Surfrider Foundation

For 35 years, the Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves, and beaches.  The foundation has an irreplaceable national network of chapter volunteers that serve as the first response to local threats in coastal communities across the US. They are the boots on the ground who collaborate on both the local and national level with regional staff and issue experts to carry out their mission through campaign, program and educational initiatives in their local communities.

The Surfrider Foundation program to tackle the ocean litter issue – primarily caused by plastic pollution - through education for action, citizen science, and campaigns. We are all part of the solution and together we can restore our coastlines, one beach at a time. Volunteers can come together the 1st Saturday of every month from 9 - 11AM at the Prospect/Ocean Blvd location in Newport for beach clean-ups.

At Redeemer, we are excited to have our youth participate in beach clean-ups throughout the year and encourage families and community groups to participate whenever possible.
