Foster teens are some of the most vulnerable members of our society. Left to fend for themselves at age 18, foster teens emancipate out of the government system with little to no advantage. When teens age out of the foster care system, they’re left with nowhere else to go consequently becoming some of society’s most forgotten, abused, and marginalized members. Homelessness, incarceration, and human trafficking are just some of the negative outcomes pervading this emancipation crisis.
Teen Leadership Foundation equips youth in foster care through housing, mentorship, life skills and leadership camps. They partner with local churches to provide teens an additional layer until they are emancipated. Volunteers can host life skills workshops and mentor teens one-on- one.
