In Remembrance of our friend Dave Stone

David Stone (1955-2021)

The music world has lost one of its most beloved and talented members.

Dave Stone passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening, from complications related to an autoimmune illness.

Dave had a long and illustrious career, having toured with such luminaries as Woody Herman, Stan Kenton and Harry James. In fact, it's impossible to overstate his contributions to the playing of every style of music. Dave had a positive influence on everyone he played with, his commitment to excellence was infectious. He was currently principal bass for composer Michael Giacchino and played on numerous movie soundtracks and TV shows.

Beyond the beauty of his bass playing and the depth of his musicianship, anyone lucky enough to have known Dave will remember his kindness, his gentle spirit, humility, and especially his laughter, which will resonate on every concert and sound stage for eternity.

He is survived by his two children, who live in Southern California and were by his side throughout his recent health ordeal.

Information on memorial services will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.
