Gottman Marriage Retreat Workshop Report

Thank you for your prayers and support to make the September (Costa Mesa) and October (Fullerton) workshops happen! We had a great turn out, especially with non-Redeemer couples. Here are some stats:

A total of 110 people attended both of the workshops.
Only 48 of the attendees were apart of the Redeemer community.

62 people (56% of the workshop attendees) came because you invited your neighbors, friends, and family to invest in their marriages (plus, a little social media ads on our part)!

Many of the attendees were non-Christians and some of them are very open to visit Redeemer in the coming weeks and months. Please continue to pray for the couples who attended the workshop and for all marriages and families at Redeemer.

Due to the success of the event, be on the look out for similar events and gathers in 2019.

Prayer Before the Worship Service

Every Sunday before the worship service at 9:15-9:45AM

Location: Room across from the women’s restroom

Join Redeemer leaders every Sunday to pray for our church, our neighbors, and our world before we gather for worship. We desire to be a congregation intentionally rooted in prayer and this gathering is an opportunity that we offer for our community to pray together. If you would like be specifically prayed over on a Sunday morning, please stick around after the worship service and ask one of the pastors or church leaders.

Thank You to Josh Cooper

Josh Cooper.jpg

Dear Redeemer Family and Friends,

Josh Cooper has humbly and faithfully served our church, our youth, and their families over the past six years. As summer recently ended, Josh has just transitioned out of his paid staff position at Redeemer.  He started out as Redeemer’s Pastoral Intern and then became our Pastoral Assistant for Youth Ministry.  Over the years of working with Josh, he has blessed me as a humble fellow worker of the Gospel, a dedicated youth leader,  a great surfing partner, and most of all as a quality and godly friend. It has been an honor to serve the church, the youth, and families alongside of him.

It must also be noted that Josh would not have made such a large impact on our church, youth, and families if it weren’t for his wife Hallie! Hallie has loyally served alongside Josh over all these years and has specifically loved and discipled so many of our youth girls. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say (and Josh would agree) that Hallie really carried our youth ministry for years!

As many of you know, Josh and Hallie welcomed their first child, Taylor, into their family this past spring, and Josh’s personal business has continued to grow. These are two wonderful blessings for their family, but it also meant that back in the spring we needed to start working on a transition plan to hand over the youth ministry to someone else. Brian Scholl came on church staff in May as the Pastoral Intern / Youth Ministry Coordinator, and Josh has done a great job in training him and handing off the youth ministry baton to him over the summer.

Even though Josh will no longer be on staff, we are grateful that he, Hallie, and Taylor will continue to be active church members in our community! So the next time to see either Josh or Hallie at church give them both a hug and thank them for their service to our church and specifically to our youth and families. This Sunday, September 23rd, we will also be inviting Josh and Hallie to the front during the worship service and publicly thanking them for their years of service, so plan to attend if you are able. Feel free also to email Josh or Hallie a thank you note at (josh@cooperlife.co or halliencooper@gmail.com)

In Christ,

Pastor Adam Feichtmann

Marriage Workshop Event Logistic Teams

In preparation for the Gottman Marriage Retreat Workshops in Costa Mesa (September 28-29) and Fullerton (October 5-6) we are in need of two Event Logistics Teams to help plan all the details of the workshops. Do you have planning skills, an eye for room decor and layout, hands to stuff gift bags, etc? If so, we would love to have you join one of these planning teams. Each team will meet once in August and probably twice in September. If interested please email Pastor Adam Feichtmann adamf@redeemeroc.org.

Fullerton Mission Serving & Prayer

Mechanic Tools.jpg

We are a missionary people, formed by love to love.

We recently commissioned our Fullerton Launch Team by praying for them so they can go forth and establish a new congregation in Fullerton. But this team does not go alone. Even if you don’t plan on attending Redeemer Fullerton, you can still play a critical role in launching the new church in one or more of the following ways:

  1. Joining the prayer team. We want 100 people to commit to praying regularly for the new church.
  2. Serving in Fullerton for a season. Would you be willing to join the Fullerton greeting team, set up team, run the sound board, or help in the children’s ministry or nursery for 6 months, 12 months or even longer?
  3. Serving at Redeemer in Newport Beach. There will be volunteer needs on Sunday morning as our Fullerton members who are currently serving redirect their time and energy to the Fullerton launch. Consider serving on our greeting or set-up teams or helping with children's ministry.

See the link to the sign up form below to let us know how you would like to engage in this mission in Fullerton. Let's do something great together!

RUF at UCI May 2018 Update

RUFUCIMay18.jpg

The school year for RUF at UC Irvine is coming to a close! We have 3 weeks left before students leave for summer jobs, internships, and travel. I wanted to update you on a few things:

1) Praise God! We have a rental home for 2018-2019. The search for a home took us much longer than we anticipated but the Lord provided... as He always does! (below)

2) The Lord answered our prayer to have a ministry to 50 students for this year.

3) We had a great local fundraiser for RUF at UC Irvine on May 5th.
***A family very generously gave us a $20,000 matching grant. As of today, $14,600 has come in from the May 5th fundraiser. If you would like to give to help us reach the goal of making our $20,000 matching grant you can give by clicking on the "Give to RUF at UCI" button (below).

Youth Update for Fall 2018

Attention Youth Families: Here are some exciting things happening for our youth students this Fall. If you student is in 6th-12th grade (or going into 6th-12th grade) see some of our highlights below.

Sunday Light Brunches & Small Groups

As you may know, as of Sunday, May 20th, Redeemer will have only one worship service at 10:00am.  Therefore, the Middle Hour will no longer exist. However, we still really wanted to make sure our youth are connecting with one another and the youth leaders on Sundays. The creative outcome was to have a weekly light brunch and small groups directly after the worship service every Sunday starting September 9.

  • Timing: Sundays 9:00 - 9:50am
  • Location: Tables Outside the Chapel Hall
  • Food: In addition to bagels we will be buying a variety of other bites for students and leaders to enjoy.
  • Small Groups: Girls and boys will break into groups, eat a light brunch, have a short study and time of prayer.
  • Parents: This will be a 50 minute student gathering each week. Our hope is for parents to grab a coffee and bagel and enjoy conversations with each other and other members and guests at Remember in the chapel and/or chapel hall.

Fall Calendar

Click HERE for our 2018 Fall Calendar! There are some very exciting upcoming events, gatherings, and studies for our students and their friends. Review it and save the dates for your calendar planning. Printed copies will be available at church on Sundays. Mark your calendars for these upcoming events:

Junior High Photo Scavenger Hunt - September 14th

Fall Campout - October 12th - 14th

6th Grade Promotion

Attention Parents of 5th graders: Sunday June 24th is Promotion Sunday for students moving into the Redeemer Youth Ministry. So on June 24th and all the dates thereafter your student is welcome to join the rest of the youth group for all of their gatherings, studies, and events.

Pastoral Meetings

Pastor Adam is willing and available to meet with you as parents to help support you as you disciple your students in the community of the church. If you would like to schedule a meeting concerning something you are dealing with your student and/or would like another form of pastoral support, you may email Pastor Adam, adamf@redeemeroc.org, to set something up.
