In many situations, parents or guardians may be incapable of providing a safe and caring environment for their children, putting them at risk of abuse and neglect. In the past, extended family or neighbors stepped in to help families in crisis by caring for their children for short periods of time. By opening their homes they are caring for children whose parents or guardians are struggling.
Safe Families vision is to create a world where children are safe and families are transformed through radically compassionate communities. Their mission is to host vulnerable children and create extended family–like support for desperate families through a community of devoted volunteers who are motivated by compassion to keep children safe and families intact.
Safe Families for Children is committed to serving families in crises by partnering with the local church in every community, where families open their homes and lives to vulnerable children.
There are many ways for you, your family and your community group to get involved with the Safe Families for Children movement including becoming a host family, being a family friend, being a family coach, helping with transportation or helping with translation projects.
