Redeemer News

New Children's Ministry Director

Dear Redeemer Presbyterian Church,Amanda It is no surprise that our Children’s Ministry at Redeemer continues to sprout up, grow, and build momentum.  More families are having babies and our young sons and daughters are being promoted into elementary school in droves.  Currently Redeemer has over 80 kids in our Children’s Ministry. We know these are critical years and the leadership of our church desires to walk alongside our families in order help our children love Jesus and the church.

In this exciting time for Redeemer, the Session has decided to hire Amanda Knox as our part-time Children’s Ministry Director.  Amanda has already been a dedicated volunteer teacher and committee member for our Children’s Ministry for over ten years, and also brings local teaching and education experience as well.   She is well loved and respected by not only our children, but also our parents and teachers for her excellent communication and organizational skills.  We look forward to Amanda being able to invest more deeply each week into the development of our Sunday School and Children’s Worship Programs, while also training and supporting all 40 of our current volunteers!

Be encouraged in what is happening with our Children’s Ministry. In addition to the numbers of our children increasing and hiring Amanda, we also have many new volunteers and are continually making curriculum improvements. As this vibrant ministry continues to develop, I will remain in a supportive and vision-casting role alongside Amanda and our Children’s Ministry Committee.

TBY Care

We are so blessed to have such a beautiful worship space at Temple Bat Yahm! Let's remember to love our neighbors by practicing good stewardship Sunday mornings. Here are some ways we can care for this beautiful space:

  • Pick up trash and items from the pews and chapel hall before we leave.
  • Treat the property as if it were our own.
  • Remain in our designated areas so we do not disturb TBY guests in other parts of the campus.

Also remember to use caution around areas at TBY that are under construction. Click HERE to read more about the construction project underway at TBY and how it impacts us.

Central County Parish Thanksgiving Potluck

Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 3-6 pm Redeemer’s Central County Parish will be hosting a Thanksgiving dinner. Those living in the Central County neighborhoods (or anyone without plans for Thanksgiving) are invited to join us. We will gather at the park on Jasmine Place in Tustin. Please bring a side dish that serves 6-8 to share. Contact Lynsey Monterastelli, lynsmonterastelli@yahoo.com, with questions or to RSVP.

Temple Construction

Temple Bat Yahm has commenced construction on a new campus security gate. The gate will enclose the quad on the front parking lot tby footpathside of the temple campus. This construction will not impact those utilizing our back parking lot and entering through the rear gate to the chapel. If you park on the street or in handicapped parking and enter the chapel hall through the front lot, then a wheelchair accessible footpath into the quad area will be maintained at all times. Please use caution when entering or exiting construction zones. Likewise, Redeemer parents are advised to closely supervise children while they are playing outside before and after classes and worship due to potential hazards around the construction zone. Your safety is a priority!

Bible Dedication

Sunday, October 18: Stamp BiblesSunday, October 25: Dedication

Our children helped raise enough funds this summer to purchase 10 cases of bibles for the Orange County jails! Join us following worship on Sunday, October 18th, to help stamp each of the bibles with a message from Redeemer. Then join us for worship on Sunday, October 25th, for a dedication and time of prayer for the incarcerated men and women in Orange County who will be receiving these bibles.

Worst Refugee Crisis Since WWII

We've all seen the heartbreaking pictures of individuals, families, and entire communities uprooted and displaced. The world is facing the worst refugee crisis since WWII and many of us are asking what can we do. How can we help when this tragic reality seems distant and removed from our lives? Below are several links for every believer to take a moment, read, and understand more about this Refugee Crisis. Begin your journey to advocate on behalf of those far off and support the refugees currently in our midst in Orange County.

"Now, NOW, is the time for the Church to be the Church. We cannot, cannot, afford to miss this opportunity — and miss Him. In the past, the Church may have been defined by what the Church is against, but, in this defining moment in history, may the Church be clearly defined by what it is for. And the Church has always been for the stranger, the sojourner, and for being like the welcoming arms of the Savior." ~ Ann Voskamp

Women's Acts Study

Every other Tuesday, 7:00-9:00 pm Redeemer women are invited to join us for a study on the book of Acts using John Stott’s Acts: Seeing the Spirit at Work.

“The Spirit moved in dramatic ways in the early church. The gospel was preached, thousands were added to their number, many were healed, and the good news about Jesus was spread across continents. Covering the exciting action of the Spirit in the years just following Jesus’s life on earth, this study will open your eyes to the Spirit’s power in the past and present and help you apply the riches of Scripture to your own life.”

Join us every other Tuesday at Panera Bread @ The Bluffs, 1348 Bison Ave, Newport Beach. Books are available for purchase at the Redeemer book table on Sundays. See the study schedule below or contact Stephanie Handley, srhandley@gmail.com, with questions.
